TRVSpellChecker Add

Post by standay »

Hi Sergey,

When using the TRVSpellChecker and the SpellCheckrvActionSpellingCheck, when I check things by hitting F7, if I then click the "Add" button in the dialog while on a misspelled word, that word spell then checks OK. But, the next time I put that text in and recheck, it shows as misspelled again. Shouldn't it be writing that word into the OS user default.dic file when "Add" is clicked? It's not writing it in there. So, "Add" is acting like "Ignore" as far as I can tell (i.e., as a temporary fix).

Oh, also, that "added" word dose not seem to be being used as a "candidate for suggestions" either as far as I can tell.

If that's by design let me know.

Thanks

Stan

I made a test, added the word "browzer" to a dictionary using "Add" button in the dialog.
Closed the application and ran it again.
It does not underline "browzer" anymore, and when I right click "browter", it shows "browzer" among other suggestions.
I used "English (Canada)" spelling language.

Hi Sergey,

Yes, it does work. I found that on Win11 for it to work, however, you have to be sure the Custom inking and typing dictionary is ON. Mine was OFF. Turning it back on now allows adding words and enables using them as suggestions later.

However, if you toggle the Custom inking and typing dictionary setting, it will clear out your current user dictionary data. I was wondering why the data was there and then not there. In case someone is looking for that setting, MS buried it in the Privacy & Security section.

Thanks for testing it on your end.
